Buddy Program
A program that connects exchange students with EBAPE students to help them adjust, integrate, and have a positive experience in Rio de Janeiro and at the university.
Abstract
- An EBAPE veteran as a direct point of contact
- Help with schoolwork, housing, and life outside the classroom
- Matching conducted by the DAA at the beginning of each semester
The Buddy Program pairs each student who arrives from an exchange program or from another city to study at EBAPE with a returning student at the school, who serves as a support person during the first few weeks.
A buddy helps with what the official handbooks don't cover: how day-to-day life at school works, which classes are worth taking, where to live near campus, and how to get to know your classmates without relying solely on class time.
The idea is simple: no one should have to start from scratch on their own. Having an experienced person by your side makes the adjustment process faster and less lonely.
“Cheguei do Chile sem falar quase nada de português e minha buddy foi quem me ajudou a resolver desde matrícula até onde morar perto do campus.”
“Ser buddy me colocou pra ajudar alguém de fora da mesma forma que eu queria ter sido ajudado no meu primeiro semestre.”
